Study in Malta

Heritage of educational excellence. Sunshine! 300 days of sunshine per year. You will not be freezing under piles of snow and ice. You will not wake up every day to a cloudy sky. You will get an awesome tan.

Welcome to Malta

Low Cost!
You will pay a small fraction of what it would cost to study and travel in Great Britain, the Americas, or Oceania. Food, transportation, living expenses, and tuition are all very economical.

Lots to See!
Despite its small size, Malta is surprisingly rich in culture and history. Many ancient and modern world powers desired this strategic island at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and left their mark on its landscape. From the world’s oldest buildings to the castle-city of Mdina, to the chessboard fortress of Valletta, Malta’s many World Heritage Sites will dazzle your eyes!

Friendly, Safe, Relaxed!
Many traveling students have struggled with the “cold culture” found in other English-speaking lands. Malta has the cure! A family-based, laid-back, warm-region culture with Mediterranean folks ready to help at the slightest request, creates a welcome change and relief! It’s also one of the safest places on earth.

International!
If you study English in Malta, you will be surrounded by thousands of others who are doing the same thing. This not only creates a great learning experience and opportunity to make friends but also provides avenues for you to find connections with people from your own country who can help you out.

The Sea!
The water is so blue! Malta is one of the best diving sites in Europe. Whether you enjoy swimming, sailing, or just lying on the beach, Malta is the place to be! It’s so beautiful that many film productions have chosen Malta as a shooting location. Find us on Gladiator, Troy, World War Z, Captain Phillips, Game of Thrones, and many more! Does New Zealand have great film sites? We do too.

You’ll gain the Barts and The London medicine undergraduate experience while living in the Mediterranean. It’s a great place to study medicine abroad.

  • Tuition fees Annual tuition fees for both Malta medicine programmes are €35,000 for UK/EU, and international (non-EU) students. QMUL charges tuition fees annually for its programmes of study. There is an annual increase on an inflationary basis and/or in line with government policy and regulation.
  • UK General Medical Council The GMC recognises bodies to award primary medical qualifications and the process has started to quality assure the QMUL Malta Programme and its first undergraduate medicine programme. This takes the form of a year by year review following the first cohort to graduation. Only during the final year of the programme will the GMC be able to confirm the programme meets the GMC standards outlined in Promoting excellence: standards in medical education and training. There can be no guarantee that this will be the outcome of the quality assurance process and the QMUL Malta programme has contingency arrangements in place with the home university programme of QMUL in London, so that students enrolled in the programme who are successfully passing all assessments, will be able to complete their studies and graduate with a GMC recognised medical qualification.
  • World Directory of Medical Schools We are proud to be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, developed through a partnership between the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).
  • Learning and teaching: clinical experience from the start Our problem-based learning (PBL) produces doctors trained in thinking strategies along with subject knowledge which is further enhanced through early clinical placements. The programme places considerable emphasis on developing your expertise in a whole range of practical areas, including clinical, communication, observation, team work and management skills. MBBS Malta is a Queen Mary University of London degree which is recognised in many countries around the world. However, we still ask that all candidates applying for MBBS Malta contact their respective Medical Council/Ministry of Health to check whether the degree is accepted and recognised in their home country. Written confirmation is advised.
